Focus on the process

The whole world keeps chasing success. The internet is filled with videos on becoming successful. People keep working hard and chasing what they feel is success.

Success means many different things like money, position, promotion, fame etc. But the bottom line is that everyone thinks that success lies in something which they are lacking currently.

They feel they are incomplete and therefore unsuccessful. By acquiring money or fame or promotion, they feel they will be ‘successful’.
For example, a cricketer feels that a man of the match award is success. The award is ‘outside’ this person. If he gets the award, he will feel complete. He tries hard to get it. He focuses on scoring maximum runs in matches. Unfortunately for him, all the other batters too wish to be man of the match. His dream is common to everyone in the team. Every team mate feels incomplete without the award. Yet only one person may win it.
Even the one who wins it, aims for something bigger next.
The chase to find success never ends. Because the source of success is always thought to be ‘outside’ the person. It is either in a match award or money or position or fame etc.
Instead of thinking that success lies in something outside ourselves, we should focus within us. Success is not an endpoint. It is not money or fame etc. Success is a process. Good habits and discipline build a successful process. The best cricketers have an excellent process of making runs. They work on their shots and have discipline in waiting for the chance to hit. Similarly, a successful artist works on improving his process of art. A successful teacher is one whose teaching process is brilliant.
Work everyday on improving your work process.
Money, fame, promotion etc will follow only a successful process.
